Roberto GRADNIK, MD elected as President of EBE

Brussels, 26 June 2012 - At the occasion of its General Assembly held on 26 June, as part of the EFPIA Annual Meeting, Mr. Roberto Gradnik, MD has been appointed as President of EBE (European Biopharmaceutical Enterprises).


“We are delighted with Roberto’s appointment”, said Mr. Marc de Garidel, Chairman and CEO of IPSEN Group, outgoing President of EBE. “We are confident that Roberto will successfully lead the association to meet the regulatory challenges ahead of us, especially for SMEs”, he added.  

A Italian citizen resident of Switzerland, Mr. Roberto Gradik is trained as a physician. He has more than 25 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sector, in leading positions in the pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical industry and as President of Assobiotec, the Italian association of the biotech industry (05/2004-05/2010).

Since January 1st, 2012, Mr Gradnik is the Chief Executive Officer of Stallergenes, a European biopharmaceutical company dedicated to immunotherapy of allergy-related respiratory diseases, such as severe rhinoconjunctivitis and rhinitis, as well as allergic asthma.

On the eve of his official appointment, Mr. Gradnik declared: “More than ever, the biopharmaceutical industry is one of the leading industries in Europe and in the rest of the world.

The facilitation of R&D and commercialisation of new biopharmaceutical products for unmet needs remain at the top of our agenda. In parallel, EBE will continue to address and facilitate the main challenges faced by biopharmaceutical SMEs that strive to develop their business in Europe.”
