WHO CAN BE A MEMBER OF EBE ?

European Biopharmaceutical Enterprises (EBE) represents biopharmaceutical companies of all sizes operating in Europe. It is headquartered in Brussels and operates as a specialized group of EFPIA, the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations.

Membership in EBE is open to all companies using biotechnology to discover, develop and bring new medicinal products to market.

EBE’s focus on the biopharmaceutical sector provides targeted and results-oriented support for its members. It has developed a wide range of activities and services for members, embracing policy advocacy, regulatory intelligence, strategic communications, business development, networking, education and training.

Policy Advocacy, Regulatory Activities and Sharing Expertise

EBE manages specialised Committees aimed at developing the biopharmaceutical industry’s input to the European legislative and regulatory process. The numbers of laws and regulations affecting the biopharmaceutical industry is increasing and policy-makers and regulators need a forum to consult industry. EBE provides this forum and, thanks to their membership in EBE, companies can participate in this consultation process and contribute to specific task forces and topic groups. EBE has also set up specific groups to address technical matters (working group on biotech manufacturing) and cover growing niche markets (orphan medicinal products task force).

Business Development Opportunities & Support to Members

EBE is providing business development support services for European biopharmaceutical companies. These range from workshops and “how-to” guides on identifying and taking advantage of potential sources of funding, training sessions on legal and business development topics, to networking events for business development executives of biotech companies and larger pharmaceutical corporations.

Raising Awareness of the Benefits of Biopharmaceuticals

A key EBE objective is to raise awareness of the products and special features of the biopharmaceutical industry and how it benefits patients and society. Your company can join the Committee developing our messages and materials and implementing programmes to disseminate this information to key audiences such as government decision-makers, patient organisations, the media and other opinion-formers.

Central Resource Centre, Training and Advice for Members

The EBE secretariat develops and maintains a wide range of information resources for member companies to use. These include reports, directories, conference & exhibition listings and various sources of information, which can be tailored to the companies’ specific needs. EBE also organises targeted training sessions to update members on new EU regulatory requirements. Additionally, via the operational relationship between EBE and EFPIA, EBE members can consult the sector-specific experts on the EFPIA staff to request advisory services in a variety of key areas such as PR, regulatory, legal & IP, external trade and economic affairs.

Annual Meetings & Educational Programme

Being a member of EBE will also entitle you to attend the EFPIA Annual Meetings. This gives your company access to the educational and networking programme organised by EBE for its members as well as to the high-level programme designed by EFPIA where you can meet the key decision-makers from the large pharmaceutical companies in one location.

This annual membership fee entitles you to participate in the membership activities organised by EBE and to benefit from all the member services of the association. Furthermore, since EBE operates as a specialised group of EFPIA, EBE members can also benefit from the pharmaceutical-specific expertise available within the larger EFPIA grouping. The relationship between the two associations is designed to bring the benefits to EBE member companies at a price they can afford.
